As artists sign up for the GP I will be posting here. Keep in mind that the events almost a year out so all artists are tentative and will need to be confirmed as the event comes closer – however I promise an amazing list of artists.

First artist to sign up is – RK Post.

This is going to be amazing folks.

I live in Portland. I love Portland and last night Wizards of the Coast web site went live with the news that Portland Oregon is going to get a GP. Thats right – Portland Oregon is getting a Grand Prix.

For years players have been asking me –  ”When will Portland get a GP”  and I have never had a good answer – well now I do. The Grand Prix Portland will be Sept 11 and 12th.

So Good. So flipping good.

I can’t wait to show off Portland – easily one of the best cities in the world to everyone at the GP.

I know everyone wants details as soon as possible and I have been working for months on getting this event together and will be ready to announce things like location, hotels, artists and side event schedules over the next weeks.

But for now – I’m just so happy to announce that Portland gets a GP.

I have confirmed with Richard that he will be signing at the Grand Prix on SUNDAY only. He plans on arriving at 12:00 – 12:30 and will be at the event for several hours.

I can’t tell you how great it is to have him at the GP.  This event is going to be amazing.

I have just faxed the paperwork to the next closest hotel – as the marriott is sold out. The new hotel should have a room block set up with discounts for GP players.

“Reservations can be made through our dedicated property reservations team at (253) 238-8000 or toll free at    (888) 862-3255.  Please advise your guests to ask for the “Magic – Grand Prix Tournament” group to ensure they receive the special room rate. Guaranteed reservations must be cancelled by 24 hours prior to arrival to avoid No Show/Same Day Cancel charges of one night’s room and tax.”

For those of you who like to know about food options – the food service on site sent me a list of what they will be serving and what they charge. Seems really good and reasonable (compared to hotel or convention center food)

As with all convention centers they will not allow outside food and drink – but there are food options fairly close by. But this seems really good to me.

Again – I don’t know if the hotel is going to sell out or now – I haven’t ever rented a block of rooms before – so I am just providing the numbers and letting you draw your own conclusions on how many rooms have been rented for GP – Seattle.

Currently for the 100 room block (numbers are rooms rented each night) so we will have at least 50 players at the GP ;)

Fri – 50
Sat – 50
Sun – 22

Quick update – I have reserved 100 rooms for the GP at the hotel on site.  For 100% accuracy is next to but not connected to the convention center – but its really really close. Anyway if you are planning on staying at the hotel – of the 100 rooms reserved so far 27 of the rooms have been rented.  I have never arranged a block of rooms like this before so I don’t know if this is a sign that the entire block is going to fill – or if there will be extra rooms.

I will just try to share the data and you can figure it out for yourselves.

At long last I have finalized the negociations for the Seattle Prerelease location. I will spare you the details but it was a real pain.  Seattle Center and all my usual locations were booked.  However I did manage to get the Ellis Pavilion at Seattle Mariners/Safeco Field 1250 First Avenue South Seattle, WA  98134

The event is on april 25th (saturday)
and the Artist will be Mark Tedin.
