Gen Con Indy 2011 Promo Passes at Magic GP Portland
by Gen Con Indy on Wednesday, September 8, 2010 at 1:13pm

Knock the inner gamer out of the Gen Con staff. Win a promo pass.

If you are going to be battling in the upcoming Grand Prix Portland for Magic: the Gathering (details at http://bit.ly/9CenpA ) you have a chance to win a promo pass to next year’s Gen Con Indy.

I will be among the ranks of thousands cracking packs and hoping for that Magic mixture of mythic Titan power, blue and white cards, and for my finest tuned sealed-deck skills to come together well. More than likely, I’ll just be a piñata, spilling promo passes to players who defeat me.

As only a few people will be paired against me, you can also follow posts on http://www.twitter.com/gen_con or look for updates here. A few times during the day I’ll be sure to post a “first person to find me gets a pass” type of post, too.

Hope to see you there!
-Scott

Great news, Richard Garfield has agreed to sign at GP Portland. On saturday he will sign from 2pm to 4pm.

Is this going to be the best GP ever?

My good friend Scott Elliott from GenCon will be at GP Portland. Scott just announced that he will be passing out passes to GenCon at GP Portland. I don’t have full details on how many or how he will be passing them out – but I will post as I find out.

It’s my pleasure to announce that my friend Pete Venters will be signing at GP Portland. I gotta say this is an amazing lineup of artists. I have been to conventions that didn’t have this quality of artist.

I’m working on some final travel logistcs and expect to announce more artists Tuesday.

Tim

This AM Jaime Jones confirmed for GP Portland. So good!

I expect several more artists to confirm over the weekend but likely I won’t have time to post until monday. So look forward to more artists then.

Also please do me the favor of re-posting this or linking to my blog. I really want to get the word out about GP Portland.

So the full list now is

I just heard from Anson Maddocks. I just looked it up, Anson has done 112 cards including some of the best staple cards ever. Disintegrate, Llanowar Elves, Sengir Vampire not to mention Serendib.

So good.

The confirmations keep rolling in.

Chuck Lukacs and Franz Vohwinkel both have confirmed. Chuck has just completed a cool book of his art so when you come to the Grand Prix check that out. Both Chuck and Franz have done a bunch of Magic cards and are realy fun to talk with at events.

I was talking to another tournament organizer who told me its just not fair. The west coast has way more artists than any other area of the world. I thought about it for a second and then responded that he’s right but life just isn’t always fair. I get to invite more artists to my GP and they are more likely to come because they don’t have to travel so far. He’s right – I has 10 artists at GP Seattle (Tacoma for the rules lawyers out there) and I hope to pass that mark this time.

I started playing Magic in major part due to its art. When Magic (alpha) first came out, I was running a comic books store in Olympia, WA and I really wasn’t into games that much. One look at Alpha and I have played ever since. I straight up love art. I love meeting artists. When I think of ways to make a GP better I think of more artists, more original art, more autographs = more fun.

for those of you keeping track the list of confirmed artists is …

… and more to come. As the artists confirm I will post to this blog.
