Monthly Archives: January 2010

I sent this out earlier today in an email and I wanted to say it publically on the blog as well.

So I scheduled the PTQ in Salt Lake. The I discovered it was on the same day as GP Oakland. — Lets call that my embarrassing error.  But everyone gets to mess up once in awhile.  And I went to a ton of work to find a day and a location where the event did not conflict with any of the other PTQ. I was thinking that all to the good.

I moved the day and thought I was done.  Then I discovered that the reason there were no PTQ’s that weekend was that it was the weekend of PT San Diego.  I flat out messed up, twice. I don’t have a good excuse.  I just messed up.

So long story short, I have found a new weekend to hold the PTQ. One that doesn’t have a major event and that doesn’t conflict with a any other PTQ that close by.  It is the same weekend as the PTQ in San Diego but thats a 12 hour drive so very few players will be affected.

So now my face is red.  I messed up, twice. All I can say is sorry.

The new date of 3/27 at the Utah State Fairpark.

This would be the best tournament prize.  I really want one and I want to give them away to winners at events. New Apple iPad. So cool – stupid name, but so cool.

trademark-attorney-yu-gi-oh-counterfeit-upper-deck.pngLos Angeles, CA – Instead of settling the case after it was caught selling counterfeit Yu Gi Oh! cards, Upper Deck fought a losing battle and the Court’s summary judgment ruling found that Upper Deck counterfeited Yu Gi Oh! cards (details here). After the parties’ opening statements were delivered to the jury yesterday, Upper Deck and Konami settled the case, wherein Upper Deck will pay an undisclosed sum to Konami and will enter into a permanent injunction — which appears to be an adoption of the Court’s previously issued preliminary injunction (details here). The Court’s order regarding the settlement is available here.

The case is Konami Digital Entertainment, Inc. v. Vintage Sports Cards, Inc. et al., CV08-06630 VBF (C.D. Cal. 2008)

Cascade Games Seattle prerelease will be the only place in the Pacific Northwest to get the free promo – this amazing Magic 1000 count high gloss card box. These will not be sold but you can get it for free if you play in 2 Main event flights or 2HG events. (or 1 main event flight and 1 2hg)

I have sent out the judge call for GP Portland. If you are hoping to judge this event please send in a judge application as soon as possible. In less than 24 hours, over 20 judges have signed up for the event. I expect to have the event fully staffed very soon.

The reason I’m doing this so early is that I want judges to be able to purchase travel at the lowest cost possible. I know its hard to plan this far out for some people but I think the advantages of being able to lock in low fares more than makes up for the hassle.

If you want to help but are not 100% sure you will be able to get time off this far in advance please apply for the event and just et me know about the logistical issue.   I’m really flexible.

So far the average level of a judge is about 2.25. I have booked 2 lvl 0′s so thats bringing the average down but then having a 5 and two lvl 4′s on staff helps bring the average up. Sure looks like were going to have an amazing judge team.
