I have confirmed with Richard that he will be signing at the Grand Prix on SUNDAY only. He plans on arriving at 12:00 – 12:30 and will be at the event for several hours.

I can’t tell you how great it is to have him at the GP.  This event is going to be amazing.

I have just faxed the paperwork to the next closest hotel – as the marriott is sold out. The new hotel should have a room block set up with discounts for GP players.

“Reservations can be made through our dedicated property reservations team at (253) 238-8000 or toll free at    (888) 862-3255.  Please advise your guests to ask for the “Magic – Grand Prix Tournament” group to ensure they receive the special room rate. Guaranteed reservations must be cancelled by 24 hours prior to arrival to avoid No Show/Same Day Cancel charges of one night’s room and tax.”

WotC has created a cool playmat that we will be giving out to people who register IN PERSON, ON FRIDAY of the GP weekend. Standard legal stuff- you know like quantities are limited, one per person that kind of thing.

So why no card art? The idea of the mat is to have lots of room for the artists at the GP do a sketch, have space for Richard Garfield or R&D to autograph it. This is a cool background for you to customize as you see fit. Make it your own GP Seattle memento.

Want to give prizes based on wins/losses not position in the event?

Ever need to know how many people will have a perfect record after 8 rounds?

Miki Urban has the web based tool for you – yes you can do it on paper – but why would you when you can just go tohttp://www.swisstriangle.net/

and enter in the number of players and click go

Thanks to Miki Urban for creating this very handy tool. Now he needs to build it for the iphone.

For those of you who like to know about food options – the food service on site sent me a list of what they will be serving and what they charge. Seems really good and reasonable (compared to hotel or convention center food)

As with all convention centers they will not allow outside food and drink – but there are food options fairly close by. But this seems really good to me.

I just read an article about the new TCG Free Realms and I’m wondering if anyone reading this is actually playing the game. If so please comment on it and let me know what you think of it. Is the game actually any good?

The TCG packs sounds kinda cheesy. However if the game is good I would be fine with it.

Free Realms, the collaboration between Sony Online Entertainment and the Topps Company (see “Topps Expands Move into TCG Market”), represents perhaps the closest relationship ever between a physical trading card game and an online game.  The Topps Starter Pack ($9.99) includes a virtual reward card redeemable for full membership in the Free Realmsonline game (worth $4.99), as well as an exclusive virtual Black Labrador dog, an exclusive card player t-shirt for the player’s character, three jumbo health potions, and an exclusive virtual Cardie Racer.

The Topps Booster Packs ($3.99) include a virtual reward card that can be redeemed for an exclusive in-game item and 50 Station Cash, the Free Realms virtual currency.

The initial Topps set includes over 180 cards, as well as over 50 virtual reward cards, and 16 physical exclusive cards with codes that unlock the equivalent card in the online game.

The SOE Free Realms online game went live last week, and Topps’ Free Realms TCG streets this week.
